2 years and still buy it

I like this litter. Well my cats like this litter. I have been purchasing it for a couple of years now. It is a good value, it clumps well, and it covers smells just fine without being heavily perfumed. It is a little dusty when pouring from the bag.

    Excelllent product.

Very pleased with this product. Very little tracking. Urine clumps up quickly, very firmly, and as soon as it does, the odor is not detectable to my (very fussy & discriminating) nose. Very easy to use. Cat seems satisfied. I do scoop twice a day (well, all right, yes, I do miss sometimes, but it is reliably scooped every day without fail), and I find that I don’t have to do a full change as often as with other brands.

    Top Cat Litter

After trying numerous cat litters over the years, this has to be my top pick. Clumps easily and covers odor amazingly. Although it may be a bit pricier than others, it’s definitely worth it.

    So far still good!!

I can’t tell you how many different litters I’ve tried!! Yes even that pretty litter!! I have two very picky kitties and one will refuse to use the cat box if the litter is smelly! No joke!! I clean them everyday and still he would pop on the floor next to the litter box!! This stuff is so awesome!! Clumps so good!! Locks in Oder too!! I have no complaints yet!! But it’s only been a week so we’ll see how long it last with two kitties lol! Also he stop pooping on the floor too so that’s A+ from me!! 🤞🏻

    This stuff is the best

Read this review and thousands of others, we mean it when we say this is the litter you need. I’ve had cats for 35 years, and THIS is the best. It’s super easy to clean, clumps hard and fast, there’s practically zero dust and it traps odors like you wouldn’t believe. You know when you clean the box there’s always that nasty smell that makes you gag?? Not anymore. It does track a bit but that’s what vacuums are for. And if you get the big bag, keep in mind that 40 pounds is heavy! I’ve even seen my delivery guy going ‘ooof’ lol But seriously, trust us, you need to try this…and you can thank us later.

BEST LITTER ON THE PLANET. BAR NONE!

What can I say about cat litter?? It takes a lot for me to want to write a review about something that’s a necessity and also something nobody *likes*. But this litter takes the cake. It is the absolute best I’ve ever used and I’ve had cats for the past 16 years. I currently have 3 cats, and this controls odor, keeps the box in usable condition between scooping/cleaning, and is low tracking. Plus, it lasts. With 3 cats we go through a lot of litter and this definitely has the longevity that other brands don’t. My cats have never had any issues with it and seem to prefer it over other litters I’ve had to pick up in a pinch. If your cat is having any sort of litter box problems or aversion, I would definitely recommend this litter. Also – the litter attractant made by Dr. Elsey’s is worth combining to help motivate cats that are learning to use the litter box.

    Dang Ol’ Great Stuff!

Man, tell ya what, talkin’ ’bout litter, dang ol’ no one’s favorite subject, y’know? But here I am, yessiree, gotta share the good news, man. Got them three kitties, call ’em Speedy, Zoomer, and Whiskers, y’know, all usin’ that fancy dang ol’ Litter Robot 4, I tell ya what. Now, listen here, Speedy’s the chill one, kinda like ol’ Clint Eastwood, but furrier. Zoomer’s the nervous fella, always scamperin’, y’know? Then got Whiskers, curious lil’ rascal. So, got all these three personalities mixin’ it up, causin’ chaos, man.Problem was, they’d all have their moments, leavin’ a mess ’round that Robot. But I tell ya, found this here Precious Cat Ultra stuff, man, game-changer, y’know? Dang ol’ miracle in a bag, I swear.Price, man, dang affordable, ain’t no rip-off. Picked it up, put it in that robot, and boom! All three fellas went right for it. Even Zoomer, man, poor lil’ guy usually nervous ’bout everythin’, started usin’ that box like a pro. No more surprises round the Robot, tell ya what.Odor? Man, talkin’ ’bout non-existent. This stuff’s got some kinda sorcery, makin’ that foul smell disappear. Walk past it, don’t even know it’s there. Like ol’ ninja stuff, silent but effective, y’know? Then we talk ’bout clumpin’. Man, this stuff clumps like no other. Easy to clean, like piece o’ cake. Ain’t strugglin’ with soggy mess no more, make life simple, like dang ol’ ABC.So, y’know, give it five stars, man. Not just ’cause it makes the Robot and the cats happy, but ’cause it solves multiple issues at once. Like a dang Swiss army knife, all-purpose and reliable. If you ain’t tried Precious Cat Ultra, well, you’re missin’ out, man. Get you some, won’t regret it, I tell ya what. That’s it, man. Cat litter. But not just any litter. Cheaper and better per ounce than the leading brands

It is made from bentonite clay that is also used for human intestinal medication and detox which I have on hand and use. This litter is low dust, easy to sift with a litter scoop and makes cat urine balls that are easy to remove intact. Odors are efficiently absorbed..To clean the litter pan quickly when empty I take it to the garden hose with power nozzle and blast away the wet litter than sticks to the pan.The 18 pounds per bag weight might be a drawback for some people.

Best litter on the market (For me)

I got this litter when I got my cats back in September and it’s amazing! I tried the Sams club generic brand and it had a fake “minty” scent to it every time the cat’s use the litterbox. And then they hated it and started using the carpet! Where as this one my cat’s would roll in it whenever I clean out the litter because of how much they love it! Highly recommend and there is no scent!

    Best I have ever used.

I have two cats and have tried many different brands that I have been satisfied with, but when my son told me about how much he liked this brand, I had to try it.This litter is fantastic. It is not scented, so you have no artificial odor, yet it takes care of the urine and stool odor completely. It clumps really well and very easy to scoop up waste. Even after I put it in the litter pail there is no to little odor days later. I was concerned because it is a little coarser than what I have been using and they are your typical fussy cats but they really seem to enjoy digging in it. The other advantage it has very little dust and seems to track less. This litter is great.

    Best litter on the market

I’m allergic to formaldehyde and found this litter. The only one I’ve found I’m not allergic to. It’s not dusty, clumps well, and keeps odor under control – if they cover. One of our 4 cats doesn’t cover. I go scoop it right away. We use the largest top loader I could find. It helps a lot in keeping the litter contained. My husband bought a litter with deodorant before we found this one. It left a thin green dust on everything in the house. And the smell – if they just urinated in it, the deodorant smell permeated the house. Never again!Thank you Dr. Elsey for rescuing us!!

    LITERALLY THE BEST!

I can’t begin to describe how happy I am to have FINALLY FOUND a decent cat litter!!! All the other products I’ve tried start to smell within 1-2 days, even after scooping. This product leaves zero smell and keeps my house more fresh than any other cat litter I’ve purchased. I wish there was a larger bag to purchase, though.

    Works well with Litter Robot

I’ve used several other litter brands with my Litter Robot 3 (Tidy Cats, Fresh Step, etc.) but I keep coming back to Dr. Elsy’s Litter. The litter clumps well and I find myself using much less litter compared to other brands. With other brands, I also had issues with a really bad ammonia smell (I do not have this issue with Dr. Elsy’s Litter). Whether you have a Litter Robot or not, I highly recommend this litter.

The only litter I will ever buy

I was hesitant to buy this product as I was using a scented litter. I worried it would not mask the smell and clump well. It surprised me how well it clumps. If you clean regularly, It does not stick to the cat litter bin and clumps incredibly. My cats also prefer the texture. It is a great value for the amount of litter. I will forever recommend.

    Best of the Litter!

I was done with dusty, high-tracking cat litter. Several friends recommended Dr Elsey’s litter, and I’m thankful they did! The boxes are heavy and unwieldy, but the litter is well worth the trouble. There is very little dust when pouring and the litter produces nice easy-to-clean clumps. We have three litter boxes in close proximity, and ofors are controlled to the point that you’d never know we had cats.Highly recommend!!!

    Excellence

The cat litter does all that a cat litter is supposed do and it does one thing even better than the rest. I realized that as I was cleaning the box , there was minimal dust. It also clumps well and particulate is well sized. There was a sale on this and if I hadn’t seen it I probably would not have tried Dr. Elsey’s cat litter. It’s a winner and my lungs are a winner since half of the time I’m too lazy to get my mask. I guess I retired into my new life as a cat custodian.

Cat wants to nap on fresh litter

The media could not be loaded.

I took a couple videos of my Siamese tabby point getting in his box to sit then lay down like he wanted to nap on fresh litter rocks, I feel that speaks for itself. We tried a few different types of litter all with a bad smell and often needing dumped and changed after a week or two even though it was supposed to last an entire month. I have one cat he’s about 10 pounds, he’s been Neutered and has a large high sides box. Which is actually a tote repurposed because he liked to kick and dig in the litter for 10 minutes every time. The 40 pound bag lasts over a month, it fills it completely once then allows for top ups throughout that time to maintain the 4 inch depth. I find my Kitty prefers the 4 inch depth as if it gets down to anything less than 3.5 he’s able to get urine on the bottom of the box, then it sticks and it’s a big pain to scoop n clean.I keep a super clean box, scooping multiple times a day and I always try to after each number two. I thought all litters were the same ol thing until we got this stuff. After researching and reading all the reviews I’m so glad I tried it. Not only is it cheaper than anything else it’s so good, like 10-1 better than tidy cats. The price is comparable when compared pound to pound with tidy cats but since I had to replace tc more often it was actually more expensive than this like double!!!I hated the smell of cat pee coated in febreze but wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a non-scented litter. I’m a first time cat mom so I had no idea about any of this stuff. They really have the perfect litter formula in my opinion with no additives just clay rocks, and it works. The size of the rocks are perfect they don’t get stuck to my Kitty’s paws and don’t track as bad. I don’t think there is a 100% track or dust free litter but this is close and better than anything else I tried. The only time I notice dust is pouring new litter in or dumping it out, the occasional dusty kitty paw from him leaving the box and the occasional dirty litter paw prints from him playing in the sinks.I was sweeping at least once a day using tidy cats and I have cut that down to twice or three times a week and basically just a two foot radius near the box not the entire house like it was before.&& There’s literally NO SMELL!!!!!!! You can’t even tell we have a cat or a litter box anymore surprisingly. We rescued our cat, and was second guessing that decision due to the smell tbh. Sad to say but true! Between this litter and getting him neutered I can honestly say I’m a ‘cat person’ or my cat person anyway I love him so much and have grown so attached to him like I never knew was possible Bc I’ve always had and loved dogs. I never thought I’d like a house cat, but here I am and he’s got my heart! This company doesn’t put a huge price tag on this litter to help animals and I appreciate that. I can get behind them for that alone but they have absolutely won us over with this litter. Never knew I’d be reviewing cat rocks but here I am, my cat loves it he’s so happy and has never once went outside his box now and it actually encourages him to get in the box. As long as I keep it clean of course!!

    LOVEEEE

I’ve been looking everywhere for a litter that clumps relatively well and eliminates odor. With everyy litter I buy I also get arm&hammer deodorizer but still had trouble with the smell. The litter ive tried were arm and hammer & Purina Tidy cats (personally do not recommend) but this new litter is amazing. So far I’ve ordered this litter again 3 times because it totally masks the odor without having other unnecessary scents in my room. 10/10 recommended for anyone especially if you have multiple kitties running around

Love the lack of smell and choking dust!!

We have always used Pretty Litter ever since we got our kitten. But, I wanted to try something, that hopefully didn’t smell as bad as Pretty Litter always did. Well, I think we found a winner! We have gone through half of our first bag and so far, so great!Today, I just put this on a subscription to be delivered on a regular basis. So yes, I would definitely recommend this kitty litter. It clumps easily, and the best part, we don’t have to inhale all that dust that we did with Pretty Litter, which was seriously horrible to try and clean the litter box out because of all that dust we had to inhale and it would make you cough like crazy and had to turn away from it, often. I couldn’t stand the smell as I’m trying to clean it out. I would have to take it outside just to be able to breathe while I’m cleaning it out. Although, this litter, has been wonderful. Im finally not breathing in all that dust, which I know, also can’t be healthy for our cat as she’s doing her business. Thankfully, none of that has been an issue with this litter, especially while cleaning out the litter box! No more “Pretty Litter” for this family!

Tried a bunch of brands, they all stink! We were going through tons of the typical store bought stuff, and it would end up being double the cost of this stuff per month. We then tried some other fancy brands, and they would smell bad very quickly, or leave cat paw tracks too and from the box. Finally, we tried this stuff, and it rocks! We end up only using one bag per month, it doesn’t smell, doesn’t make a big mess, and no paw tracks to and from the box. We are sticking with it.

    You have cats???

Living in the country and being a total sucker, I have more than a few cats. They find me. Even living 40 miles out in the country, further than anyone will drive to dump animals, they still find me. Seriously. I wake up in bed with cats I don’t know. I come home to find cats I don’t know partying in the living room, napping on my bed and helping themselves to chow in the kitchen. Last year a feral had kittens under my kitchen sink. Three cats I had just met, in my house, had litters of kittens in bed next to me while I was sleeping. So I’m not kidding when I tell you I need good litter.None of my cats have had any of the cement clumps some people talked about. I guess that could eventually happen if the boxes aren’t cleaned out in a timely manner. I’m not willing to check that out though.I put this litter in what I call “The Popular Box”, the one they all seem to prefer. I used my regular litter in the back room with the other boxes that get a lot less use. Just for giggles, I skipped a day of cleaning the box with THIS litter, but did clean the ones with the other litter.Even though the box with Dr Elsey’s litter missed a day of cleaning, even though that box get about 3 times as much use as the other boxes, it didn’t smell. At all. The others did. What dust? Very minimal. I especially noticed the difference when I added old litter in the back boxes. There is almost no dust with this stuff. And the clumping? WOW! You could hurt someone with those clumps! Seriously! If you find a stranger in your house, just grab one of these to throw. They’ll be in some serious pain!I barely noticed any odor when I was cleaning out the “Popular Box”. The far less used boxes with the old litter seemed overwhelming after using Dr Elsey’s.One thing to note is that although this is a forty pound bag of litter, the bag it comes in is not much bigger that the 20 lb bags I usually buy. This stuff is HEAVY! I had to drag the litter over to the box and scoop it out with a cup!I also noticed that there is a lot less tracking of litter. I wasn’t expecting that.Needless to say, I’m beyond pleased with this litter. It’s a little more expensive, more so for me because I have so many “Guest Boxes”, but I’m definitely not going back to that other stuff. Now, if they could make a litter that will scatter itself over the poo when my cats can’t be bothered. Is it so much to ask at least that much after everything I do for them???I guess they want to make sure I don’t forget who’s really the boss around here.

I’m sure I have tried just about every clumping litter out in the last 15 years. This is my favorite. My kitties and very picky with the litter. The litter is hard clumping absorbs odor great. So happy! Best litter! No odor! No breakable clumps!

I’ve had cats for many, many years. I didn’t for over 10 years when my last one died. We recently adopted a stray that came with the new house. My husband was very concerned about the odor and cleaning. I’m disabled and unable to clean it. I researched different litters online and this one popped up as #1. I totally agree. Thankfully, our new addition would much rather go outside and will hold it until he can. But in extreme emergencies, he will use the box. We bought one bag in July. We’ve cleaned it twice. It’s now late December. I just cleaned it for the second time. Absolutely no odor, which is why we keep forgetting to clean it. Clumps like concrete. No dust. It does track a little, but since he rarely uses it, it’s no big deal. I love this litter.

    Reliable Kitty Litter

I’ve been using this kind of litter for about two years. I started out with a more expensive litter, but found it very dusty and messy. I did my research and found that many cat owners liked Dr. Elsey’s litter. I gave it a try, and I liked the results. There are probably better litters out there in terms of weight, texture, and environmental friendliness, but for price, odor control, and clumping this is about as good as it gets. Not all cats are alike and it might be a bad choice for you and/or your feline companions. For me and my cat, it’s easily five stars, with the occasional “off” bag being a little lower quality.Other pertinent info: I only have one neutered male short-haired cat, so those with unaltered males, females, long-haired, or multiple cats might have different experiences. I use an Arm and Hammer sifting litter box, plus a Durascoop aluminum litter scoop to remove waste from the sifter and anything the sifter misses. Probably overkill, but it just makes things easier. Also, although this litter is very good at stopping odor, I tend to add some Arm and Hammer litter deodorizer just in case. It also helps prevent any clumps sticking to the litter pan if my cat happens to dig too deep or I don’t notice the litter’s gotten a little too shallow. Here’s my rundown of how this litter performs, based on a couple years of regular use:This is a heavy litter, so if you have mobility issues or can’t lift much weight, you might prefer other options. For my litter box, a 40-lb bag is enough to fill the litter box about 1.75 times. Some boxes are deeper or overall bigger than mine, so plan on purchasing a bag every 1.5 litter box changes per litter box in your household. This stuff forms solid clumps and you don’t normally smell it except right after the cat’s been to the box. The bag will say to change the litter and scrub the box once a month, but it’s best to change the litter and scrub the box at least every 2-3 weeks. After around 3 weeks the area around the litter box may begin to noticeably smell. The litter forms solid, heavy clumps that usually don’t break and are easy to scoop. If your litter is too shallow in the box or if your cat tends to urinate right next to the sides, the clumps won’t form properly and you’ll end up with a nasty soggy mess that sticks firmly to your litter box. Because of how hard and heavy the clumps are, they tend to sink to the bottom over time, especially if your cat has a large volume of urine. If the clumps hit the bottom of your litter box before they fully form, then they stick there and the moisture where they touch the pan doesn’t get absorbed by the litter. Therefore, if the litter level is too low, top it up to avoid a difficult-to-clean mess. Also, I try to scoop twice a day and level off/smooth the litter with the scoop so it will last longer and I’ll be less likely to find clumps cemented to the box.Because of how this litter works, you’ll want to avoid buying it if your cat needs or prefers especially shallow litter, if your cat urinates in the corners or against the sides of the box, or if your cat tends to aggressively dig in the litter, making it more likely to urinate too close to the pan for the litter to form clumps.I have no answer to those reviewers who’ve found this litter cemented to their cats’ paws. The cat’s paws would have to be wet for this to occur, either from water in the surrounding area or their own urine. I’ve never seen this issue with my cat, even though he loves playing in the sinks and leaves wet pawprints everywhere. As for the dust level, compared to the other bigger-name litter I tried initially, it’s usually much less dusty. Sometimes I receive an extra-dusty bag, but it usually lives up to its low-dust promise.Consistency-wise, this litter tends to be medium-grain, but it’s literally a mixed bag. Usually, there’s sandy, fine-textured litter as well as coarser bits, some of which might look more like gravel. It does track a little, especially right after the cat leaves the box, but it usually isn’t too bad.I sometimes get a bag with litter that looks more tan than grey/off-white. That suggests it’s been in a damp environment for a while, and a bag that looks tan will not be as good at odor control or clumping as a grey/off-white bag. It will still work, but needs changing sooner. This is probably more of an issue with storage/shipping than with the litter itself, but it does bear mentioning.

    Good at Oder control.

I ordered Dr Elsey after the was a shortage of EverClean only to find out that it worked just as well at Oder control as the EverClean at almost half the price. And it is delivered to my door. I’ll keep using Dr Elsey!

    Excellent

This litter is the one we’ve gone with for some time now in my three-kitty home. One of my cats is a picky fellow and likes it. It doesn’t have much of an odor itself and keeps the litterbox smell down. It clumps perfectly for easy cleanup. My cats would give it five stars if they could.

Great kitty litter for multiple cats!

I hate scented kitty litter- It has such a fake smell. We’ve been using Dr Elseys for years. We have 4 cats and it is really Unscented! We have no pet odors. The shipping packaging has improved, and we haven’t had a busted bag in a long time. A 40 pound box is heavy, but worh it!

    Excellent Clumping Properties! GREAT Brand!

We’ve been getting Elsey’s for probably over two years, I’m guessing? We’ve always liked this brand as it’s fragrance-free and it’s always had good clumping properties, but I realized I had never written a review on this.Earlier this fall, we inherited three little kittens in addition to our two adults and suddenly found ourselves temporarily short on cat litter. I had to make a quick run into town to our “big box store” to quickly grab some extra litter until our next shipment of Elsey’s arrived.Wow – I knew this litter clumped well, but truly didn’t appreciate just how well it clumped until using what I grabbed in town. Comparatively, there is no comparison. Elsey’s wins hands down!

My cat gets mad if I use any other brand

This stuff works great, and as the title says my cat seems to love it. You do need to get a deodorizer of some kind though, but I find that’s true with most cat litter. I’ve been buying it consistently for over 8 years now so I figured I’d finally write a review.

    Best litter I’ve found!

I recently purchased Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Litter for my beloved feline companion, and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. As a conscientious pet owner, finding a litter that combines exceptional quality, superior odor control, and a comfortable experience for my cat is of utmost importance. Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Litter has exceeded my expectations on all fronts.First and foremost, the quality of this litter is outstanding. The granules are fine and soft, making it gentle on my cat’s paws and ensuring a pleasant litter box experience for her. The texture is just right, providing excellent clumping capabilities, which makes scooping and cleaning the litter box a breeze. The litter forms tight, solid clumps that are easy to remove, leaving behind clean litter for my cat to use.One of the standout features of Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Litter is its exceptional odor control. It effectively neutralizes and traps unpleasant smells, keeping my home fresh and free from any unwanted odors. Even in a small space, the litter does an incredible job of containing and minimizing odors, giving me and my cat a much more pleasant environment to coexist in.Another aspect that I appreciate about this litter is its low dust formula. I’ve had experiences with other litters that created excessive dust clouds when pouring or scooping, which can be bothersome and potentially harmful for both humans and pets. However, Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Litter has a minimal dust level, ensuring a cleaner and healthier litter box area.Furthermore, this litter has a long-lasting nature. It maintains its clumping and odor-controlling properties for an extended period, meaning that I don’t have to change the litter as frequently as I did with some other brands. This not only saves me time and effort but also makes it a cost-effective choice in the long run.In conclusion, I highly recommend Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Litter to all cat owners who prioritize quality, odor control, and the well-being of their furry friends. Its top-notch clumping, remarkable odor control, low dust formula, and long-lasting performance make it a standout choice in the crowded litter market. With Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Litter, you can confidently provide your cat with a clean and comfortable litter box environment while enjoying a fresh and odor-free home.

    Pretty dusty

I try to avoid the super dusty cat litters but when the sun was shining in I definitely saw lots of dust floating around when scooping this one. Overall it worked well though, clumps great. I usually just buy whatever is on sale if I can so I’m not really loyal to any brand. I’d buy it again if I saw a good deal for it

    Great cat litter

We adopted a cat 2 1/2 years ago and tried different cat litters. So far this has been our favorite. No odor or dust. Our daughter started using this at our recommendation. No more Febreeze smelling cat litter. Ugh!

Product is as advertised good stuff

I hate hate hate scooping. This litter makes it less arduous. Love this cat litter. We have 4 cats, and have used almost every brand/type out there. Reasons why it is an excellent product:1. Hard clumping2. Great odor control. We very rarely smell the litter pans, even when I get lazy and skip a day3. Easy to scoop unless it’s on the bottom of the litter pan, then it takes a hard scrape. Observation not a complaint.4. Cats use it5. Great price point6. Natural, unscentedI buy a bag every three weeks. We have 4 cats and 3 outsized litter pans. Very happy with the product, and highly recommend.

I settled on this after a few years trying different litters

I wanted to give a very detailed review because I tried using reviews to choose litter, but it was very hard to do because often the reviews vary wildly in describing the same qualities of the same litter. I’ll start by saying I’ve tried Fresh Step, Tidy Cats, Arm & Hammer, Pretty Litter, and various other silicone litters before settling on this one. I have one short haired, older female kitty who has one litter box.For a long time, I used Arm & Hammer clump and seal litter. I didn’t hate it, but felt like it didn’t clump as well as it could and I wanted to try something else. So I switched to Pretty Litter for a while because I liked the color changing aspect. However, I started to notice that it wasn’t lasting as long as it was supposed to and I didn’t want to keep paying that much for something that wasn’t doing what it was supposed to. I liked the no-clump aspect, but it seemed to irritate my kitty’s toes. She was constantly picking stuff off the hair on her feet (and she doesn’t have long hair at all) and I felt like it tracked a lot. I then tried a few different silicone litters, but the more affordable ones were too hard to find regularly (ie often out of stock). So after all that experimentation, I had a few qualities I was looking for:- low dust- low tracking (I live in a very small apartment where there aren’t many steps between the litter box and the couch or the bed)- low odor- hopefully non-clumpingI ended up compromising on the non-clumping part, because this litter meets my other wish list items so well.- Dust: I haven’t tried some of the “natural” litters like the ones made from corn, wheat, etc. so I can’t speak for those. But otherwise I have used many of the popular litters and I have concluded that there probably isn’t a 100% dust free litter. I think it’s just the nature of such a product. However, this has less dust than any other litter I can think of and I love that.- Tracking: again, not sure if there exists a 100% no track litter. But in my experience, this tracks the least. I did notice after I was sick for a couple weeks (still scooping ofc but not as worried about cleaning up the litter on the floor) it did start to get a little spread out and ground into the carpet. But as long as I was vacuuming regularly I barely noticed any tracking.- Odor: this and the low tracking were probably the main selling points for me. I’ve honestly forgotten to scoop the box a couple times because I. NEVER. SMELL IT! Even when scooping it, it hardly smells. Only towards the end of its life cycle does it tend to stink much, but again, that’s only when scooping. And I use the scent free one! I hate the smell of scented cat litter (it gets too strong for me and in my head it’s a “cover up” smell, like spraying perfume on a dirty shirt or pants lol) I think this is the best quality of this litter. If odor is your sticking point, I’d definitely recommend trying this.- Clumping: as I said above, this was what I compromised on. **This IS a clumping litter.** But it clumps EXTREMELY well. Honestly sometimes it’s a bit like scooping a rock. If it’s a larger clump sometimes I have to put in some effort to break it in half. So because of that and how great the other qualities are, I was fine with switching back to a clumping litter. I have a Litter Genie so it’s not too much of an inconvenience. Actually, my only (very minor) complaint would be that the clumps get too heavy to fill the Litter Genie bag as full as I’d like, but it doesn’t bother me that much.- Price: I haven’t sat down and figured out how this one compares to the others in terms of price, but it’s at least comparable and I think very reasonable for the quality of what you get. The 18lb bag is a little more than enough to fill up the litter box, and has been lasting about a month. So glad I decided to try Dr. Elsey’s! I hope this review is helpful to anyone else shopping around for litter like I was.

Minimal dust and My Cat can breathe again! Thank you Precious Cat.

I really like this litter. You will need to clean the box often because of the large solid clumps that are formed but it make them easier to remove. After trying all kinds of litters, I was skeptical this would be more than another expensive experiment. My cat has breathing difficulties and allergies. It is so sad when she is trying to sleep but can’t breathe. And dusty litter can really be rough on her!So we really wanted to phase out the Johnny Cat litter which is really dusty and tends to stink. We had been doing a mixture of Cats Pride Light and Fresh Scoopable (which works pretty well) and the Johnny Cat. It was too expensive to go straight Cat’s Pride and still have to throw away the litter every week because of smell. The Cats Pride clumps also tend to break up when scooping them. For clarification, I typically clean her litter box (giant sized enclosed pan for one cat) every day. And then do a full clean and replace of the box once a week. The Precious Cat litter box arrived timely and the bag inside was fully intact…although the shipping box had taken a bit of a beating. After a full clean of the box, and using Johnny Cat litter pan bags, I filled her box with 1/3 of Cat Pride Scoopable (what she was used to), 1/3 of the Precious Cat, and 1.3 of Johnny Cat (also what she was used to). Experts say to make any changes over a couple weeks to keep them from not using the box.I poured in the Precious Cat and was pleasantly surprised that it was very light dust. There was no overwhelming perfume or smell either. I noticed right away that the clumping feature was pretty good. And if a spot was not clumped (too fresh or hadn’t gotten into the Precious Cat layer), I just scooped some over it and it almost immediately made a good strong clump for removal. The box also didn’t smell as bad as usual. The next week, I did a full clean and replace this time using only the Precious Cat. My cat had taken to it without issue so I wasn’t worried about her not using the box if it was different litter. I filled it a solid 3″ per the instructions and used a liner bag. I found it to be a very easy week. Each day I just scoop the clumps out pretty easily. There is very minimal dust. My cat likes to pee in the corners where the bag overlaps and typically it was harder to clean. But with Precious Cat, I just scoop the litter over it a few times and it clumps right up immediately. I LOVE that the clumps don’t fall apart and break into a bunch of gross little pieces that you can’t get out like with some other clumping litters.I did not have to do a full clean and replace of the litter either. I had to refill it a little because of all the clumps I had removed at the week mark, but I did not have to start over which helps the litter last longer. It also does a pretty good job of keeping the smells down (probably because you really are removing the bulk of the odor causing material). I just sprinkle a little baking soda on the top each day after I clean it and it keeps working like a champ. So, yes, you will need to clean the box often. Those big solid clumps are going to get in the kitty’s way if you let them stack up. But it is actually a lot easier and quicker to clean because the clumps are big and solid. Also, I find that it is a bit expensive, but if I don’t have to replace the full box every week, it should average out to just about the same as the cheaper litter I was using but tossing every single week. The bags are heavy (40 lbs) and not as easy to manage as the lighter Cats Pride plastic handled container styles but they also generate substantially less waste. I feel bad throwing so many of those plastic containers away (even in the recycle).Other reviewers indicated that it could make a concrete mess on the box if you didn’t have a deep enough layer. I didn’t have this problem (even when the layer had gotten lower during the week) but I use Johnny Cat litter pan bags. I don’t like the extra waste from them either but they just make this process SOOOOO much better, that it is worth it.It does track a bit but no worse than the Cat’s Pride or even the Johnny Cat. I have a rug and then vacuum (Shark Rotator) the 10×10 area around it each time I clean the box. Takes a couple minutes.I have just bought another bag and figure I will get 4 weeks out of (1) 40 lb bag. I think this is going to be my new litter for the foreseeable future!

    Great Litter

This litter works great for my sweet ragdoll cat who has long hair and furry toe beans. I say the toe bean part because other litters would get stuck to them and then get sprinkled throughout our apartment but this one doesn’t do that. It soaks up and does what litter is supposed to do without leaving any sort of odor.

    Have been using for years

We have been using this litter for years. It’s clumping well, eliminates odor well and doesn’t smell of any added chemicals. We always order 40lb bags as its the most economical and reduces packaging. we just dump the entire bag, which is pretty heavy, in a big bucket with the lid . It’s much easier to use it that way.

    Great product

I tried this liter on a recommendation from my son. I have 4 indoor cats and a couple of liter boxes that I clean daily. This liter has reduced dust, clumps really well, and I do not have the odor problems I have experienced with other liters. I also have one cat that is picky about her liter and all 4 cats use thus with no issues. I have set up for automatic delivery and it is cheaper than buying at the local Wal-mart.

This cat litter is one of the best I’ve tried. I’ve experimented with various types like PrettyLitter, Purina, and Fresh Step. So far, this one stands out as my favorite. I had a negative experience with PrettyLitter because it gets dirty quickly with multiple cats, and Purina’s litter tracks quite a bit even after one month of not using Purina litter, I still find it everywhere. Fresh Step was better than that, but the dust and tracking were excessive. With this one, I hardly notice any odd smells, and there’s minimal dust when I scoop. So I would definitely purchase it again.

    10 STARS FOR ODOR CONTROL.

Reading some of the horror stories of some reviewers, I was nervous about trying this different kind of litter. My kitty’s box sits out on my balcony. So, I wondered if I would wake up to find her box filled with a cement block of this clay litter. And, being basically outside, would there be too much moisture? But, the low dust feature, and the promise of better odor control, plus the reasonable price motivated me to give it a shot. I had not begun to use it when the snow came and I had to drag the litter box inside. In a small one bedroom apartment there are not many options for cat box location. It goes behind a chair in the living room. And, I just want to say my sweet, soft little kitty has a super power: Stinky Poop that can knock people out. I keep a can of air freshener nearby for when the inevitable stinky business happens, and there are times when even the spray isn’t enough. I have to open the door and use a fan to find relief from the smell. The cold air that comes in is more relief than annoyance. After a couple weeks I was able to put the box on the balcony again, just about the time I started adding Dr Elsey’s to the box, a little at a time. I checked daily for cement blocks in the box—happily that didn’t happen. Gradually the Elsey’s filled the box, and as long as I scooped the box regularly (never more than two days) all was well. Then, the snow came again. The box came back inside and I braced myself for the attack of incredible odor. And, here’s where it gets WONDERFULLY WEIRD:Not one Whiff of stink! This incredible kitty litter is the most effective odor control I have ever experienced! It has been three weeks of the litter box inside and I have not once smelled even a little bit of kitty poop stink. And, secondly but not to be ignored, no dust. Even the “99% No Dust” brands still fill the room with a mist of dust every time I add more litter. This one doesn’t.I have tried and used many many brands. Dr. Elsey’s is the ONLY one that has completely killed the odor. I am so impressed! So, here’s the one downside, if there is one to be mentioned: The weight of the bag. I ordered the 40lb bag because it was the best price. At 69 and no strong sons or neighbors around, I should have known better. Well, fortunately it comes in a bag, in a box. I managed to push and slide the box into a corner, then had to just scoop the litter out into a smaller container I use to pour it into the box. For the benefit of this exceptional litter, I will put up with that. This is the Best Litter Ever. I give it 10 Stars!

John Doe’s View is worth reading!

I had been using the Silica type litter for a while. Never was a big fan, and it was expensive. But regular-type litter was a messy chore to keep up with. I read John Doe’s review, VINE VOICE, 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Litter – but a cloud of dust when you pour it, Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2023. He has the BEST SOLUTION. Mix 2/3 Dr. Elsey’s with 1/3 Hardall. This mixture works AMAZING and doesn’t kill the budget. No odor. Minimal tracking. When we used the silica-based, our cat had been peeing right outside the box, and we went through tons of pee pads. She has not peed outside the box since using this mixture. I do scoop the box 2 – 4 times a day (almost whenever she goes) and use a Litter Genie.

Doesn’t stink until it needs to be cleaned

I have 2 male cats, and was worried that the cat box would constantly stink. This litter only stinks when the box is getting full and needs to be cleaned out. In fact, on some occasions, the cats will let me know that the box needs to be cleaned before my nose does. Urine clumps up just fine, and feces desiccates quickly without much of an odor at all. If anything, the cats like the smell and texture of this litter TOO much, as sometimes they’ll sit in the litter after I’ve cleaned and replaced it.
