My birds love this mix. I like that I can add the healthier sunflowers and avoid the striped ones (my birds love sunflowers, that’s why i add the black ones later).As for packaging, I keep wishing that literally every supplier in the world would stop using plastic, and move to renewable, thick paper. Single use plastic is dumped by the ton, every single day, the world over.

Perfect food for smaller birds
This bird seed is perfect for smaller birds. We have a cockatiel and a rose-breasted cockatoo, but both birds are smaller than larger cockatoos, parrots, etc. Previously, we always ended up with a lot of wasted seed and other nuts, large seeds, etc. (and also a big mess as they throw the larger food out of the bowl). This product shipped quickly and arrived without damage. Good seed mix and great value!

Finally a mix my birds love
I like that it doesn’t have a ton of filler that most mixes have (why do they do that?) my birds eat most of this with little waste.Bought another brand last time and you’d think my birds were on a hunger strike! This came in the mail today and they dove in. Plus I’m happy to not be paying for junky sunflower seeds. They don’t like them anyway.

My Tiels love this seed mix…except for the peanuts… ’cause they’re knuckleheads (your birds might love them). This was good value for food that lasts. I always freeze seeds for a few days to prevent moths, and I have had no problems.

Part of our cockatiels diet
I like that this is a no sunflower blend. We offer a few sunflowers as a training treat on occasion which I pull from a different parrot food. We do use the Volkman’s as a part of a seed/pellet/fresh chop mix for our breeder birds. It’s also offered as part of a mix to the weanlings to get them used to different foods. They seem to like it.

I purchased this product for two cockatiels I recently adopted. They have been reluctant to try new food. Its important for them to get fruit and veggies and so I was relieved they immediately went over to the bowl after I filled it. It smells citrusy and has a variety of dried fruit, nuts and seeds. They love it.

I have a hard time finding a good, basic seed mix that is not full of junk my bird won’t eat. Most of them have some kind of pellet that is invariably thrown on the floor and wasted. My bird, like many, is very picky about his pellets and only has two brands that he will eat. (I feed seed mix as a treat, pellets are the main diet) So buying seed full of pellets he won’t eat is a big waste so I was happy to come across this brand. This is a pretty good mix, about the best I’ve found so far. It does have things in it my bird won’t eat, the various dried bits of veggies etc. as well as the peanuts. This mix would be close to perfect without all the peanuts.

Good product – Defective seal strips
Product is good, but every single one of the bags (bought about 5 over two years) has defective sealing strips, they just unstick from the package, so the bag is always open. Might as well just put the seeds in a lid container as soon as you open.

Cockatiel enjoys this seed
I have a new cockatiel 16 weeks old and a picky eater. I have introduced him to several bird seed products from the local pet store. He likes the fruit and nut hanging seed treat but leaves most of his seed in his cup. Ordered this seed and placed it in his cup yesterday and he loves it. I like that it does not have sunflower seeds in it. I expect to see less seed on the flower and in his cup.
