    My dog loves it!

I really like this wet food so far. We have been feeding it for the past two weeks. I add a scoop to my dogs food twice a day to tempt her to eat it. When she first came from the shelter (3 weeks ago) she skipped a lot of meals. She is eating dry food better now but she loves this so we plan on continuing.I tend to like that I can understand the ingredients list better in wet foods than dry dog foods. Even though I am committed to including dry kibble for dental health I need to spend a lot less time trying to understand what ingrients are on wet food. This list is simple includes meat products first and is grain inclusive (see my reasons below). Giving my dog a mix of wet and dry makes me hopeful she will get a good mix of nutrients overall even though I am not an expert I do put a lot of thought and effort into choosing what works for my dog. I worked for a vet (just a secretary) that was very passionate about having grains in dog food. His take on the whole debate was that there isn’t any evidence in medical journals that grains are bad for dogs and we don’t have a full understanding yet of why certain grain free diets are linked to heart disease in dogs so he can’t recommend them. I remain curious about what researchers find out. But, until there is a better understanding of the reasons why certain grain free foods are correlated with heart disease I plan on avoiding them. I appreciate a wet food option that gives me the power to make that choice.Every time I go down the rabbit hole of dog food research I get frustrated by the extreme difference in the reviews. I’m not an expert by any stretch just someone who wants to do right by my newest family member. My dogs poop, appetite and fur have been improving since she came from the shelter and adjusted to a diet of Purina one instinct salmon with this wet food and a fish oil supplement. So I guess all I can really say is if my dog is happy with this choice then so am I.

My girls absolutely love this food. My husband was constantly looking for a different food (Chopped House Grilled) by Purina but with the Pandemic it became a shortage item. So I decided to still hang in there w Purina a food my family has always used. So I grabbed a few cans on the shelf first for them to try. The first day I went to feed them I wasn’t sure how my girls would like a ground food. I put the bowls down turned around to throw the can away, when I turned around again it was gone. I thought this was a lot better liked then the Choppedhouse. I have a picky girl that just won’t eat anything. She would eat some of the Choppedhouse and leave the rest for later or she just wouldn’t eat at all. So of course my girls don’t think they are eating dog food, I tell them everyday Mama cooked your food. Thank you Purina, I’m disabled so it’s nice that I can order my girls food online here and not have to reach at the top or bend at the bottom shelf. I do have a problem with this order did not come to me. It said it was delivered by handing the food to someone else. I have a large metal sign on the front of my fence that asks the driver to drop packages in the box I have made for this. My fence is always locked. So apparently we have some drivers that need to go back to school & learn how to read. Thank you!

The dogs like it a lot

My dogs won’t eat just dry kibble. (One of them is so gourmet he wouldn’t eat puppy food, had to have what the adults were having and he’s actually stolen a saucepan and spatula when dinner was late. Must be the reincarnation of a French chef–French poodle.) He LOVES this food. I split it with good quality limited ingredient kibble and he’s very happy to get it. It smells like people food and you probably could fool someont that this is beef and barley stew. The older dog is less fussy but has a more sensitive stomach, and she’s doing well on it also. They clean their bowls when served this, and they aren’t happy with other fare.My vet says grain is fine for dogs and in fact, she doesn’t recommend grain free food at all. The barley is a good quality high fiber ingredient.

    She likes it

I feed this to my MinPin daily. I tried a few different dog foods and when given a choice between two at a time, this is the one she always ate first. Her weight has remained consistent, her energy has never faltered and her coat is soft. She gets six ounces a day, in three meals. I do add some ‘people’ food two or three times a day for variety.

Dogs go nuts over these cans

All 3 of my dogs prefer the gravy cuts more than anything out there. One con (which isn’t a very big one) is they do come pretty banged up, lots of dents. But I have never had one popped over due to this. The smell is a lot but I love that you can see the actual food and how quickly my dogs devour this.

    My sensitive dog loves it

I have a lhasa/dachsund mix that is very sensitive and has food allergies that make itchy. She is also prone to bladder crystals. She is elderly now, but in her life I have fed her many specialty brands that were “grain-free”, “raw”, “limited ingredient…” etc. All of which claimed to be healthy just proved to basically be fad diets. I would give her medicine for her allergies, switch her food so that it didn’t contain certain proteins, and she was still itchy. I eventually started feeding my cats Purina ONE cat food because it was a food that both of my cats liked, and the one with a very sensitive stomach would not throw up… and because my cats did well on it, I decided to give it a try with my dog. After a week on this food, my dog no longer had itchy skin, and I even stopped giving her daily allergy medication. Since then I’ve been feeding the chicken and rice or turkey and barley (both canned and dry) to her for several months now, and she has not had any flare ups of excessive yeast, folliculitis, hot spots, or evidence of bladder issues. She is 13 years old and is now in overall better health and more comfort than she was at half her age. Her energy levels are better too!I will say (likely due to the increase in carbs) that she is slightly overweight now on this food, so I’m simply lessening her portions and it is helping. It is very easy to overfeed an old dog.

WE HAVE A NEW DOG FOOD!

We adopted a 3 year old pit bull roughly 6 months ago. We had been feeding her Science Diet canned and dry because we could get it locally from our vet. Due to our location, there is only one grocery store and the variety of dog foods is limited. We had to make a trip to the “city” and I found I had not packed enough canned food for our baby to last for the duration. So I ran down to the HEB and just grabbed the Purina One Beef and Brown Rice because, frankly, I was hungry and this sounded good to me! (No, I didn’t eat any of it.) When I opened the can, it smelled so good and our dog’s nose was sniffing so hard, it was almost trembling. I trained her to wait for her food until she gets the signal that it’s OK to eat, so I gave her the signal as soon as I put her food bowl down because it seemed cruel to make her wait too long for something that she obviously thought smelled so good. She had not been very excited about the Science Diet canned. I was impressed with the ingredient list, so we decided to switch her canned food to the Purina One Beef and Brown Rice. She still gets excited when she sees the can and we mix it with her dry food twice a day. We will probably try a small bag of the dry formula when we run out of the Science Diet dry. But I want to read the ingredient list FIRST this time before I buy. I like the fact that Purina is made in USA and I’m sure it isn’t made from the best cut of the cow. I am not that naïve. But the aroma and appearance of this food looks like it is a good quality food. The signal that it’s OK to eat has been extended since that first feeding. But it’s on Subscribe and Save now so we know that she will not run out and we’ll feed it until she gets tired of it. But I don’t think that will happen any time soon.

    Dog tested, parent approved

I have a medium breed dog so not a real loud eater, but outer space could probably hear her lapping up the gravy. My dog loves veggies, rice / grains, and this has plenty of it so she can dig for the treasures before moving onto the meat, which she does actually do at times after licking all the gravy off of every bit.I give her half a can in the morning and half at night and the majority of the time that’s enough to satisfy her, but of course like all of us sometimes you just get those times were nothing does it so I just give her a little bit more and she’s good. She’s 11 years old so and I’m physically disabled so there’s not a whole lot of physical activity going on, but with this food she’s actually lost 10 pounds that she needed to because it actually fills her and keeps her feeling full longer.

A mix of Purina vibrant for senior dogs dry food and this wet food with some warm water is a nice meal for my dog every morning. My large dog is 12 1/2 and suffers from arthritis and possible hip dysplasia. The glucosamine in this dog food make my dog more active and able to go upstairs himself.

    Works!

I buy this product regularly for my lab. He wasn’t totally happy with only the dry food so the vet recommended adding a couple spoons to his food. It is very easy for this breed to gain weight, he has lost 5 lbs and weighs 80 lbs. His vet is happy and he has a waist again. I didn’t rate the flavor because I am not going to taste it, but the dog likes it. There is no order.

    Good mid price canned food

My 14 year old sheltie had been losing weight, and the vet wanted to switch her from kibble to canned. There are limited choices in canned food for senior dogs, so I was happy to find this line that is mid-priced and readily available. She had gotten fussy about eating her normal kibble, and the concern was that she had lost her appetite. Nope. She scarfs this food, so it must taste good. The cat was keenly interested too, so be sure your dog gets it first.

    Happy dog, happy home

Last spring, my elder pup had to have some teeth extracted. Afterward, we were told she needed to be on a mostly wet food diet for about a week. We use the dried variety of this same brand, so it seemed only natural to try the canned. For the first time ever, this dog thought she was being treated better than royalty. She got excited over her food and, to this day, still gets excited when we even touch one of the cans. We’re back to a 1/2 dried, 1/2 canned mix, but it’s really all about the canned.

I was feeding her the same brand but chunks and she started to get sick and have loose stools so I gave her a can of the ground which she inhaled and then I switched over to it from the chunks and it seems to have done the job. Dog is 13 going on 14 and perhaps the Chucks is too rich for her digestive tract. Either way thi does the job – 1/2 a can a day into dried food.

Adult food formulas are recommended by my dogs veterinarian

My dog eats Purina ONE +Plus Wet Dog Food for Senior Dogs without issue. Her veterinarian recommends using senior formulas for her. I like this product over the gravy kinds as it easier to hide her pills in it and is less messy. Now what I did not like is the packaging was not good. Box was damaged and 6 out 24 cans severely damaged. My latest particular order seemed worse than pervious experiences. Normally get next day delivery on Dog food but this order took five days. Getting damaged cans seem to trend up over the last 6 months. Severely damaged cans are not safe to consume food from due to the increased risk of botulism.

My old bag o’bones loves it

I was feeding her the same brand but chunks and she started to get sick and have loose stools so I gave her a can of the ground which she inhaled and then I switched over to it from the chunks and it seems to have done the job. Dog is 13 going on 14 and perhaps the Chucks is too rich for her digestive tract. Either way thi does the job – 1/2 a can a day into dried food.
