This was a sentimental gift and it worked perfect.
We gave these Tonka trucks to our sons when they were little and they loved them. They lasted for years. We have a great grandson on the way so decided to give him one. His grandfather, our son, was so excited for his grandson to have one. Turned out perfect. Thanks

Tonka provides the Christmas magic.
I bought this to donate to Toys for Tots this year as a way to thank Tonka for going the extra mile to provide a specific discontinued Tonka toy Hummer to a lovely sister trying to find one for her autistic (?) brother. Tonka really came through in a big way. It was all over Reddit this season, my favorite Christmas story. Redditors came through in a big way too.

Made a 6 year old happy
It’s a Tonka. It’s got good construction, and looks like it’s supposed to. It’s not all steel like the old days, but nothing is made as good as it was in the old days. I was happy enough with this truck.

Tonka “Steel” Mighty
The only part that is steel is the bed and the axles. All the rest is plastic. The part that I spied as “engineered for a short lifespan” is where the axles are snapped into a thin plastic sheet on each side. I was rough on my toys when I was a kid and I would have destroyed this in about a month. We’ll see.

Every kid needs a big toy truck, and more.
My old Tonka dump truck is all metal and has a hydraulic strut lift for the bed. The new model is not as good, though likely more profitable. Still, the little kids don’t know any better and like it, and it seems to be rugged enough. Will it still look good 20 years later, like the original? Probably not, but then kids will be playing with electric autonomous trucks that will only last a year. They will want the flying Tesla truck then anyway…The good news is that Tonka also sells front loaders, etc so shopping will be easy for the next few years.

Still outstanding
Everyone of my grandchildren received a Tonka truck right after birth. Steel for the boys and pink plastic for the girls. 12 total. Buy the metal for the boys. Last longer than your car.

Perfect gift.
My wife and I bought this Tonka truck for our great nephew on his 3rd birthday. When he opened this thing, he flexed his muscles and jumped up and down. His dad practically had to make him open more gifts. We just wish that we had got him on video. Made us feel 10 feet tall with joy that he loves his Tonka truck. These things are still made from metal. I remember mine when I was a child and I’ve always felt that every little boy should have a Tonka truck sometime in their life.

Perfect…just what I was looking for.
If you have a 3 year old, or even 4 year old that you need a gift for….get this. Seriously it’s just as awesome as the one from my childhood some three decades ago…except it’s new and has all the paint. It’s big…like 18″ or more from hood to end of bucket…Big enough to take to the ocean, and have lots of fun with. Might be a bit to big for an at home sandbox, but perfect size for a kid to push around the house.

I love that the bed is metal
It is a hit with my kid. He loves it. I love that the bed is metal.I dislike that everything but the bed is plastic. I feel like there was some deceptive advertising as I thought it was all metal.

The strongest long last longing toy you’ll ever buy!
Honestly my kids are THE hardest on things. They climbed on, filled it with snow, ice, mud, dirt, rocks and grass. The thing doesn’t even have paint chipping on it. With the amount of toys they have broken, I am surprised they’ve lasted fours years (we have two) and they look like the day we bout them, minus some wear on the tires. I love them so much and they make great as gifts, for your kids, grandkids, heck if your into playing in the mud, adults can get them too! They are definitely built to last!
D. Petty –
Yay! Tonka is still the best
Bought Tonka trucks for both my kids, nearly 50 years ago! Always guaranteed to be the best made toys around. So, new ‘baby’ about 18mos old comes to a reunion party and I remembered the joy my kids had with the BIG truck. This little boy was self entertained for the longest time, having a ball pushing it around, sitting his little diapered bottom in the truck bed and scooting around backwards in it. A big hit, as I knew it would be. I think the product description mentions ‘age 3’, but my experience in the now (and then) is that Tonka is so well made that they are basically safe for any age.

Great for little boys!
I bought this for a little boy’s birthday, and he loved it. (I guess he slept with it in bed that night, so cute) It is just like the one I had growing up. I grabbed two, one for my daughter, and hers has been outside in a mud puddle for months and it looks like it is holding up pretty well. Can’t beat a Tonka Truck.

Good deal and great kid’s gift
Great value for friend’s 3 yr old. Similar to the one that I had as a child. The front part is made out of plastic instead of steel. Not a deal breaker though. Still quite durable

Steel dump truck
It’s nice to be able to get a truck that is solid and will be around for my grandson for many years.
PickyPeeps –
Tried to break these. Can’t.
These bright yellow Tonka trucks can handle anything! Bought two of them for my boys a year ago and they put these trucks through some serious outdoor play. From filling up the beds w/rock, constantly wetting them, running them through mud, driving them off ‘cliffs’, leaving them out in 110°+ weather- these trucks have withstood the test of time. And toddler boys. Well made, durable and cool- Highly Recommended!
Amanda Schaefer –
Wish it was all still metal
I wish the whole truck body was still metal like the old one. In this one, the front “cab” section of the truck is plastic. Hopefully it will hold up as well as the old one. My little guy is sure giving this toy a run for its money. He is far from gentle!

Very nice dump truck
They definitely don’t make them like they used to. Only the dump bed is metal, the rest is plastic. That’s the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise, my son loved it.

80’s Tonka
bought my daughter the tonka dump truck when she was just a kid. Now I’ve got two grandchildren from my second daughter. And still have the dump truck I bought a long time ago. It’s still in mint condition as it has been kept as an in door toy and being played with by girl’s it was not abused at all. My question is what would this toy be worth if sold at auction ? But I think my grandson might have some thing to be said about that !

Sturdy truck that your child will love
My son loves this. I had one as a kid and I wanted to get him one. He’s a toddler and he’s pretty rough with stuff right now but this thing has held up nicely. There are no sharp edges on it and it rolls easily. It isn’t so intricately detailed that it can’t be washed and brought inside either so he can use all the time. I would buy this again.
Jabo –
Great for outside use
My son loves this truck. Great for outside use, but recommend putting some care into limiting exposure to rain. We’ve only had it a year and there are some spots starting to rot.. I’ll need to sand and paint soon. Strong enough that my 4yo can ride on it.

Great gift for my nephew
I ordered this for my nephew for his 2nd birthday. When I found it online, it brought me back to when I was just a little guy playing with my Tonka toys in the backyard. My sister told me that my nephew loves it and plays with it all the time. I would have given 5 stars if the whole thing would have been metal like they used to make them.

This is the only new Tonka worth purchasing
This is the only new Tonka truck that’s still worth something. I bought almost every retro Tonka available and they’re all junk. At least the bed on this dump truck is all metal and can handle some weight. My daughter was playing with all of her new Tonkas in the front yard the other day. At one point she had this dump truck over flowing with dirt. Just like how I remember playing with them. I just wish I could say the same for the other cranes and tractors.

I bought this Tonka truck for my 3yo grandson’s birthday and he LOVES it! They are still made as sturdy as the ones I watched my 3 brothers play with when we were growing up many years ago. Thinks Steel Mighty Dump Truck is the Best!! My Grandson loves it!! He was so excited when we opened the box.“Oh Boy! I’ve got the BiG Truck!” As my 4 yr old Grandson said. Nice Throwback Toy
It shocked me to find steel Tonka trucks are still around. I had great fun with mine as a kid in the 60s. I bought this one for my 3 y/o grandson for Christmas, and he loves it. It’s rugged and does everything the old-school versions of my childhood did. Both Grampy and Grandson are pleased with it. Now I’ll simply have to keep buying him more — a Grampy’s gotta do what a Grampy’s gotta do.

A LITTLE BOYS RITE OF PASSAGE !
This year my grandson’s first big Tonka Truck…and he played with it more than anything else.. it is a little boys rite of passage to get his first steel Tonka truck, the big One! My son kept talking about his… we all watched and I remembered nothing but my son and the escaped when Mr. Toad when into the cab, and puffed himself up and could not come out…. he even had his little feets on the steering wheel.. I screamed til the neighbors heard me, and my son but the Truck In the shade til Daddy got home…by that time, Mr.Toad unpuffed and crawled out… we still have that truck… some 30 years old.!

Product Name is Misleading – Only Bed is Steel. Still a Sturdy Truck!
I recently purchased this for my young son, and thought based on the description that it would be built of mostly steel based on the name and the description line of “Built Tonka tough with sturdy steel construction”. The next line notes that dump bed is steel – what they don’t mention is this is the only part made of steel. The rest of the body is made of plastic. That said, I am not disappointed by the product received. It is still a sturdy truck and I expect it will be enjoyed by the little one for years to come.

Tonka Tough!
Not much you can say that everyone already doesn’t know, these are the beasts of all toy trucks. Love the classic old style cab. These metal Tonka trucks will last forever, my 27 year old son still has his, and now my 1.5 year old grandson will have his forever as well. Other reviews mentioned the packaging, mine came packaged perfectly in a box with clear shrink wrap all around. I did have to watch the grandson when he played with it because they are metal and have sharp edges.

Exactly like the one I had as a kid. My son LOVES this dump truck. And when he drops it on my toe, it hurts just as much now as it did when I was a kid. Very sturdy and very easy to clean. He likes to use it in the sandbox. It has also spent the night outside in the rain a couple times with no rust

Well-loved Classic Toy!
Exactly as expected, well packaged, quick shipping, average price for the item. My kids had big, metal Tonkas these when they were small. It was one of their favorite toys and stood up to a lot of hard use in the gravel driveway. Nice Classic Tonka Truck!
My child LOVES her Tonka Classic Steel Mighty Dump Truck! Though, I have to say the quality is still not nearly as amazing as the one I had as a child, but still better than other trucks you might find on the market today. My child loves to drive this truck all over our house and it hold’s her toys! The wheels, bumper, and underside of the truck are ALL plastic. Though, Tonka still does a nice classic truck!

Pretty tough and worth the money
Like many reviewers of such toys, I remember the Tonka trucks of yore- built from solid metal the whole way through, probably more durable than any vehicle ever. OK, not quite. But the Tonkas of the 70’s were pretty bomber. But hey, I’m not paying over $50 for a used metal toy truck that’s older than me on eBay, so after looking around I settled on this bad boy.Gave it to my 1.75 year old this Christmas, and he really digs it. Granted, he’s not quite old enough yet to really bash it, but I gave it a good going over and it’s nice and solid. I think it’s good value for the price, and I would recommend it.-1 star for being made in China like everything else these days.

Love these little trucks, it is my go to gift for kids around 2. They have so much fun with them out in the yard. The bed is metal so I feel it is quite sturdy and I don’t get that anxiety about it falling apart after a year or so. I feel this is always a good purchase for boys or girls. I mean 2 or 3 year olds live to push around trucks together regardless of gender.

This was a birthday gift for my grandson’s first birthday. He is into cars and trucks. I gave it a 4 rating because I don’t know how much he plays with it. If I knew he played with it a lot I would give a 5 rating. After he opened the present he seemed thrilled and pushed it all over his families home.

Great Product – STEEL where it counts – Lifetime warranty!
Bought this and a backhoe for my 5 yr old Grandson, partly for his birthday (and partly because I accidently stepped on his plastic backhoe and broke it)These trucks are all steel where it counts very tough and BIG, just like Tonka was back in the 70’s, I have 3 grandsons and these were a big hit even over the electronic toys, their Dad’s liked them as well. These also have a lifetime warranty so you really cant go wrong – if your children like trucks they will LOVE these, highly recommend.

Nostalgia at it’s finest…
Got this as a gift for my nephew, when it arrived it brought me back to when I was a kid.I was not aware they were still manufactured, all parts from what I recall are the same as back in the 80’s.The Dump box is made of durable metal, coated in what I’ve always refereed to as Tonka Yellow. Everything else is hard plastic, so keep that in mind if your kid is a though kid this is perfect for them. I mean though because if you fall on it or hit your self on it … it will hurt, I mean …hello it’s metal. So I would not necessarily recommend for any kid under 5 or 6… What I did is screw one of those ceiling hooks to the front so it can be pulled with small dog chain..to give it that industrial look. These don’t have any fancy buttons, no noises… no batteries needed just let your kid’s imagination go wild, if you have a kid that likes to play outside and is not glued to their tablet this is a great toy . I can also see this as a cool Toy for an Office specially if its in the construction business.

Toys & Juvenile Furniture Inc.. MASSIVE UPCHARGE!
This is a great toy for children, but Toys & Juvenile Furniture Inc.. charges $77 more than stores charged. That’s a huge rip-off for others who are selling it for $22.99 and free shipping. Anyone paying $99 for this is just looking to throw away money to a company that inflates prices beyond imaginable belief.

A toy that will last even with the roughest and toughest
My children ride this thing around and it still works. It is an inside only toy but i would be confident that it would survive outside. It is steel so it will be rusted if left exposed. if you can keep it inside then it will last a really long time no matter how its played with.

Smaller version of the original Mighty Dump Truck
The “list price” of $68.99 leads you to believe this is the original big steel Tonka Dump Truck. It is not! It’s much smaller than the Mighty Dump Truck that sells for $48.99. It was misleading and wasn’t the bargain I thought I was getting, but does seem pretty durable.

We’ve been getting the Tonka steel trucks for a couple years now. We have three of these my son has gotten as gifts and we have gifted one.-they are durable, my kids ride them and push each other from 2 years to 6 years of age.-they work great in doors and outdoors-they’ve been left outdoors in snow, rain, wind and sun and little issues.-so far we’ve had no issues, not even a squeeky lift.

Great product
My nephew loved this truck! The only downfall was having to pay shipping when I’m a prime member due to the instant need and they did not offer two day shipping.

Tonka Truck
Wow! We gave this to our crawling and beginning to walk with help one year old grandson. His reaction was priceless! For a one year old, he squealed, immediately began to load the bucket with his toys and push it around the house. He held on to the truck and jumped up and down, clapped his hands – this reaction went on for almost 20 minutes. It obviously was a hit! He has not seen one of these trucks before, has no TV, it was one of the best moments of his life. Boys like the big trucks, even at the age of one. Somehow they really identify with it and connect. The material is sturdy, not a thick metal as when we got our son one, but this will hold up for a long time and many drives around the house. This summer he will love it even more when he gets a sandbox!

Quality of product excellent
4 year old grandson loves this truck, he can sit on it, push it, and play with for and hour or longer. Great for imagination, perfect size and durability for strong little boy.

Perfect gift for young boy
Bought this a a Birthday gift for my two year old nephew. Him and his older sister love it! It was nice to find a well made and durable toy for them to play with. Because it is a Tonka truck. I know it will last a long time.

Almost as good as the original
My rough and tumble grandson is big into trucks, and this was the sturdiest I could find. Not quite the same ruggedness of the Tonkas made years ago, but still I good toy for destructive little boys. While the bed is steel, the tires are now plastic instead of rubber.

My little boy loves this truck
My toddler loves this truck. He can get rough with his toys but this withstands everything he’s put it though. Definitely recommend it! Might have to buy another once little brother is big enough to play! Only negative of the truck is that it hurts bad when rammed into ankles.

My old nemesis, back to its former glory
How gratified I was to see the metal Tonka dumptrucks available to a new generation. My twin brother had one when we were tots in the late 70’s, and he neatly demonstrated its extreme durability of construction and mobility of the parts by seizing the lip of the cargo tray, whipping it around like a nunchaku, and hitting me in the face with the hood of the truck. If parents have doubts about the durability of the toy, let me assure you that the cartilage of my nose yielded before that truck ever would. At 35, I still bear a deep scar across my septum from this fine product. The child I intend it for today has no siblings as yet, but as an old master of Tonka-fu (the fire truck with extensible ladder makes an excellent weapon for blocking and tangling, I later found), I intend to train him well in the use of this toy. This proud martial arts tradition shall not die out in my time.

My grandson absolutely loves this. I had one when I was a child my boys had one when they were small but they put more plastic parts on them nice to see the went back to a more sturdy metal truck it will last him a very long time

Classic my Ass
I remember when I was young and I had one. The whole thing was pretty much made of metal. The new “classic” trucks aren’t quite living up to the original. However, I bought it for my son and he enjoys getting pushed around in it.

Quality product, realistic fun, and the price was nice!
This is, of course, a quality product. I have been buying Tonka products since I was a little girl and the quality is a testament to the company’s dedication to building a toy that can withstand some incredible abuse. We bought this for our grandson’s 7th birthday and he has put it through some tough “job sites” in our yard. Rolling down mountains of gravel, crashing into trees, being loaded with tons of rock and dirt, and even as a seat for our grandson when he needed a break.

A classic that can be passed down thru generations.
You can’t go wrong with a Tonka. We still have the ones we bought for our son who is now 60. And, we still have the ones we bought for our son who died in 2016 in his midfifties. You can tell by looking that they got a lot of play. But, continuing the tradition, we gave this one to our great grandson.

Awesome for the grandson. He plays with this truck every time he’s over. He loves it so much he wants to bring it into the house. He lifts the bed and sits on the frame in between the cab and the bed and rolls it around. He looks like a Tonka snail on wheels. This truck has taken a beating with the large rocks that he drops into the bed. He’s not nice or gentle with this truck. This is worth the money.

Purchased this for my grandson. I wanted him to have some of the toys that I had when I was a child.. Great looking toy, but I expected it to have been made of the same amount of steel as the originals. I was disappointed to find that some parts that used to be made of metal were plastic. The bed is steel, but the cab and other parts are plastic, decals where they used to paint on the lables.. I’m sure it will not matter to him, it still looks very durable.. It is just not the same as the old ones…
DMK –
Great toy, this has been thoroughly tested by my 2 year old and has taken a enormous beating thus far with no parts yet to break. I had one similar back in the 80’s however mine was all steel. Not sure if they make them that way any more, however the tub on this one is steel and is overall a solid toy.

I guess you still can’t beat Tonka. We have any number of other toy vehicles. Bruder are nice for the wide variety of vehicles they make, and the detail, BUT they break almost as soon as my kids start playing with them. And not just one piece, more like 5. This Tonka on the other hand is still 100% intact, AND it’s probably my son’s all time favorite truck.

My 2 year old grandson has been playing with a 30 year old rusted truck at my home and I think he is pleased to have a shiny new one at his house.
Julia Johnson –
Too bad these aren’t made like they used to be – I think the only thing left on them that’s metal is the box and the axles. All plastic body, cab, tires and bumper.
JOYCE –
My Grandson (3yr old) loves this. When its too cold to be out in the sandbox, he sits on it and rides it thru the house. We have had this for 4 months now and it is still in one piece. Not many of his toys last that long. He is pretty rough on them.
Anita Schek –
Bought 2 of these for my 2 young grandsons for Xmas, and they were a huge hit with the 3 and 5 year olds. We used to buy the metal Mighty Tonkas for our son when he was a child, so we were happy to find that the quality hasn’t changed!
Antonio Reyes –
The original model of this truck was one of my favorite toys to play with growing up. I bought this for my nephew and he loves it but this model, unlike the original, is not made entirely out of steel – the quality has gone down a bit but it’s still Awesome.
